JUNIOR SCHOOL PRINCIPAL, 2021 – PRESENT
Dr. Todd Chow-Hoy became the new Junior School principal in July 2021. Over the past two decades, Chow-Hoy has made major contributions to Punahou as a mathematics teacher, department chair, team leader, and assistant principal. Working closely with his colleagues on the Junior School Administrative Team, he has led important pedagogical innovations, supported the School's faculty, and brought his insightful and reflective approach to the challenges of this extraordinary year.
Early in his career, Chow-Hoy taught at Malcolm X Academy, a predominantly African American charter school in Detroit, which he now regards as one of the pivotal experiences of his life. A native of Hawai‘i, he attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, followed by University of Michigan for graduate school.
