K – 12 Learning Outcomes

At Punahou School, we recognize that the world our students will inherit is evolving rapidly – shaped by technological innovation, global interconnection and environmental change. To thrive in this complex landscape, our graduates must be lifelong learners, equipped with the ability to adapt, embrace new skills and face challenges with curiosity and confidence.

This is why, alongside an exceptional academic foundation in math, science, the humanities and the arts, we place a strong emphasis on developing the essential skills and mindsets that will help our students succeed wherever they go and in whatever they do. These are what we call our Learning Outcomes, which include:

  • Critical Thinking: Analyzing information and making thoughtful, evidence-based decisions.
  • Collaboration: Working effectively with others and contributing to shared goals.
  • Creativity: Approaching challenges with imagination, curiosity and innovation.
  • Communication: Expressing ideas clearly and listening actively.
  • Citizenship: Acting responsibly in the school community and contributing positively to society.
These Learning Outcomes are woven into every aspect of a Punahou education, supported by the values of kuana‘ike (perspective and worldview) and kuleana (responsibility and privilege). They reflect the skills and mindsets students need to navigate complexity, lead with purpose and make meaningful contributions to their communities.
