Chamber Music Program
The Chamber Music Program is an extension of the Music School and Music Department Orchestra program. Students, who are selected by audition, have the opportunity to participate in a chamber music group and work with professional musician coaches. The coaching faculty are active chamber music players, many of whom are also members of the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra.
The program is supported through the generosity, vision and enthusiasm of private donors. Scholarships and endowments fund weekly coaching sessions, as well as performance workshops, master classes and guest artist visits.
The Chamber Music Program collaborates with local music organizations, including the Honolulu Chamber Music Series. In the past, the students have worked with the Tokyo String Quartet, Takács Quartet, Zemlinksy Quartet and Richard Young, the violist of the Vermeer Quartet.
The student ensembles present performances each semester and perform in various venues on campus and in community outreach performances.
