Volunteer for a Carnival Shift

Be a part of the Punahou Carnival tradition. Your kōkua and support are needed to help with the many food, games and specialty booths that make the Punahou Carnival a fun and memorable experience for our students and the community!
We welcome volunteers on the day of Carnival – simply walk into the PFA Office and let them know you’re available to work and the team will find a shift for you to join.

Reminders

Junior School Supervision
There will be no supervision on campus for students in kindergarten – grade 8, and Junior School students may not be on campus unsupervised prior to 11 a.m. Students in kindergarten – grade 5 must be supervised by an adult or a sibling in ninth grade or older at all times during Carnival.

General Parking Opens at 8 a.m. on Friday – Enter at Upper Mānoa Gate
Prior to 8 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, vehicles must have a Punahou employee parking pass or a 2025 Punahou Carnival Reserved Parking Placard to enter campus. Carnival volunteers (aside from Booth Chairs) and parents/guardians may not park anywhere on campus prior to 8 a.m. See below for more information about parking.

Campus Play Areas Off Limits
All fields and play spaces in the Junior School will be closed. This includes the play spaces at Omidyar (Upper and Lower), Kosasa (Scott Field and Barkwick Playground), and the O-Men play structure adjacent to the Middle Field basketball courts. Children are not allowed to play in these areas at any time during Carnival.

Policy Regarding Use of Cash and Scrip
Only scrip (no cash) will be accepted at Punahou booths or games, and only credit and debit cards (no cash) may be used to purchase scrip from Scrip Booths. Students will be able to purchase scrip using cash at Dillingham Box Office.

E.K. Fernandez Fun Pass: Last year’s card will not work this year, but any remaining credits may be transferred on to a new card.
This year, there are two ways to pay for E.K. Fernandez Rides and Games at Punahou Carnival: Using the E.K. Fernandez Fun Pass Digital App on a Smartphone or by purchasing NEW Physical Fun Pass Cards. If you have old Fun Pass cards please download the app first, then visit the E.K. Fernandez Customer Service Booth located on Carnival grounds. The E.K. Fernandez team will be able to assist you in converting your credits.

Sound Booth
The Sound Booth is located on Chamberlain Drive in front of Mamiya and is available for information, lost and found items, and announcements. Please remind your students they can go there for help or if they get separated from parents.
 
First Aid and Safety
During Carnival hours, first aid is available for all Carnival attendees in Mamiya 107. HPD and Security officers will be stationed throughout Carnival grounds. Security: 808.944.5777; First Aid Booth: 808.943.3657.
 
Bring a Bag
Please bring your own reusable bags to carry purchased items. Punahou Carnival reusable bags will be available for purchase from the Carnival Wear booth.
 
Drop Off Area during Carnival Hours
For those with limited mobility or those using a rideshare service (Uber, Lyft, etc.), Carnival-goers may be dropped off in the Bishop Lot for easier access to the Carnival grounds. Drivers may enter Piper’s Pali from Wilder Ave. to access the Bishop Lot. Parking will not be available in Bishop Lot, this location is for drop offs only.

White Elephant
The White Elephant and the Treasures Booths will begin distributing entry tickets at 9 a.m. on both days of Carnival. Entry tickets will be handed out to those waiting in line, with specific time windows for entry into the Booths. You may leave the line once you had received an entry ticket, but it is important to arrive back at the booth within your designated time window, as early or late arrivals will not be admitted. Once inside, you are welcome to stay for as long as you like.
Animal Policy: Service animals are allowed and Punahou will inquire about their service to the extent permitted by law, and all service animals must be potty trained (house broken).

To ensure a safe environment free of violence, firearms and weapons are not permitted, concealed or not concealed, with or without a permit, by anyone other than law enforcement while on our campus. In addition, Punahou does not permit the use of alcohol, tobacco (including e-cigarettes or vaporizers), drugs, or other illegal substances on its campus. Anyone who possesses or is under the influence of these substances will be removed from campus and may be reported to law enforcement.
