Judy Sheehan ’57 Dawson Family Endowed Fund for Global Studies
In honor of their mother, Judy Sheehan ’57 Dawson, Starr Dawson ’86 McLaughlin and Mark Dawson ’85 established this fund to promote and support students and teachers in the Punahou community who have a passion for learning about other countries, cultures, and languages around the world.
Judy had unique interests and knowledge about East Asia, in particular, and earned two master degrees from the University of Mānoa in Art History and Far Eastern Art History before she began working at Punahou. She absolutely loved traveling to the countries in this part of the world and made incredible memories with her friends on these trips. Traveling allowed her to gain a deeper insight into a global understanding of the diversity of people around the world. She had a full and wonderful life that was greatly impacted by her wanderlust.
This fund will support the Global Curriculum and Instruction and other Global programs that are currently in place at Punahou. Our mom would love to know that she is continuing to contribute and support the Punahou community through the establishment of this fund.
