Leslie and Betsy S. Hata
Although Les and Betsy felt Punahou was “out of reach” during their schooling years, they felt so fortunate to have their son Reyn ’91 offered the opportunity to join the Punahou community in kindergarten for the next thirteen years. Now Reyn and wife Carrie’s sons, grandsons Brock ’27 and Mason ’29, are also benefitting from the talented teachers, learner-centered curriculum, and countless opportunities in curricular and co-curricular activities.
Les and Betsy love Punahou like alumni and are avid supporters of Punahou athletic teams in different sports, sometimes even prioritizing tournaments and championship games over other social events. Valuing the Punahou education and inspired by the Changing Lives Challenge Campaign, they wanted to provide financial support and assistance so that students who would not consider attending Punahou can fulfill their dreams and share the Punahou experience.
