Jean E. Kelley Rolles ’54
2013 Charles S. Judd Jr. ’38 Humanitarian Awardee
Jean E. Kelley Rolles, a 1954 Punahou alumna, will receive the Charles S. Judd Humanitarian Award, which honors those who have made outstanding contributions to society in Hawai‘i. A member of the Kelley family, founders of Outrigger Hotels and Resorts, Rolles started in the family business at age 11. She went from cleaning rooms and washing dishes to co-founding Chuck’s Steakhouse Restaurant, which grew into a national chain of 50 restaurants. Today, Rolles serves as vice president of community affairs for Outrigger Enterprises, Inc. and is on the board of numerous community organizations, including American Red Cross, Hawai’i Chapter; Chaminade University; East-West Center Foundation; Hawai‘i Opera Theatre; Honolulu Museum of Art; Nature Conservancy of Hawai‘i and YWCA of O‘ahu.
