Diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) is the foundation of a strong community. At this month's Teacher Talk, we will shine a light on how different parts of our school practice DEIB in the classroom and how you can support your child at home.

Kindergarten – Grade 2 Counselor, Lauli‘a Ah Wong, and Kindergarten – Grade 3 Learning Support Specialist, Danielle Mizuta, will discuss how they help our youngest learners develop a strengths-based approach to emotional intelligence and an understanding of how diverse learning styles can foster a community that feels seen, heard and valued.
A pre-recorded presentation from Wo International Directors, Robyn Vierra and Paula Arias, will provide insight into Wo Center’s Global Education Framework and how DEIB fits in and comes to life in classrooms.
Eighth grade English teacher, Christina Cawdery, will talk about how she incorporates DEIB in her classroom, including having upfront conversations around DEIB issues and being thoughtful about the texts shared with students.
And Academy Social Studies teachers, Kaela Clapp and Rachel Navarro, will share how DEIB conversations are navigated in their Race and American Experience course.
